Górnik Zabrze player rewarded at the end of the season. Maksym Chłań received the title of Player of May in PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa.
Maksym Chłań showed his full potential in the closing stages of the season. It is also thanks to him that Górnik Zabrze claimed the silver medal of the Polish championship for the first time in 35 years. The Tricolours put on a display of individual and team skills in the final round, winning 6:2 against Radomiak Radom. Maksym Chłań scored a brace and recorded an assist in that match. In addition, he also scored the winning goal against Wisła Płock in May.
This is the tenth Player of the Month title for Górnik Zabrze players in history. The previous recipient was Lawrence Ennali in April 2024 (and before him: Bartosz Nowak, Jesus Jimenez, Arkadiusz Milik, Prejuce Nakoulma and Igor Angulo four times). More recently, it has been the coaches of the Zabrze side who have been recognised more frequently. Michal Gasparik received the statuette twice this season.
In accordance with the Player of the Month award regulations, the ranking list is compiled based on the votes of the captains of each of the eighteen PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa clubs. They may cast one vote for any player outside their own teammates. The nineteenth point belongs to fans voting on social media. In March, performances from matchday 31 to 34 were taken into account.
