The 2025/2026 PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa season will go down in history as the best in terms of attendance. In the 34th round of the competition, 178,030 fans appeared at stadiums, which marks a new all-time record for a single round of matches. In doing so, the result from the 27th round was broken
Attendance compared to the 2024/2025 season increased by more than 7.2 percent, which translated into the presence of over 277,000 additional fans at stadiums in the 2025/26 competition. The average number of spectators throughout the entire season was 13,577, while during the record-breaking final matchday – as many as 19,781. What's more, the final round of matches brought an unprecedented situation: every match was announced as a sold out!
– These are historic numbers and a very strong signal that the trend for Ekstraklasa continues to grow. Achieving such a result just a few years ago was a very ambitious goal, and yesterday it became a reality. We can see the effects of the daily, excellent work and cooperation between our company and the clubs. Special words of recognition go to those involved in marketing, ticketing and communications. Above all, however, I want to emphasize the enormous commitment of the fans, who week after week create a fantastic atmosphere around our competition – said Marcin Animucki, President of the Management Board of Ekstraklasa SA.
The previous cumulative attendance record was set in the 2024/2025 season, when a total of 3,876,550 spectators gathered at stadiums – with an average of 12,668 people per match.
– We are particularly pleased that all the attendance data and completely sold-out stadiums on the occasion of many matches have not been an exceptional event for several years, but have become a stable trend. We are seeing more and more full stadiums, with families with children, women and a growing base of new fans, fascinated by the world surrounding Ekstraklasa. This gives clubs additional energy, but is also a very important element of the business development of the entire league. The emotional aspect, related to purely sporting matters, is also extremely important. We know very well that the concluded campaign was exceptional in this regard. Until the very end, the fates of teams fighting for places in the European cup qualifiers hung in the balance, and there was also a fierce battle for survival. This is, among other things, the effect of the excellent performance of Polish teams on the international stage, which meant that for the first time in history two teams will compete for promotion to the Champions League, and 5th place in the table offered the opportunity to enter the Conference League qualifiers – added Marcin Animucki.
The highest average attendance in the 2025/26 season was recorded by Lech Poznań (31,065), which is also the first club with an average of over 30,000 fans in Ekstraklasa competition. Second place in this ranking was taken by Górnik Zabrze – 23,888, and third place by Legia Warszawa with a result of 23,490 fans per match.
We thank the fans for their presence, support and the atmosphere created at the stadiums throughout the entire season. We also extend our thanks to the clubs, stadium staff, marketing, sales, ticketing, security, communications departments and all those involved in the organisation of matchday. This is a shared success of the entire league. See you at the stadiums in the 2026/2027 season!
The first matches of the upcoming competition are scheduled for 24 July this year.
